A Love Letter for My Boo

Four years of cherished memories

Four years ago, I began to feel butterflies in my stomach. As I walked into Aces, I was mildly hungover, tired, and reluctant to leave my hotel room. Fortunately, I had received a text from you that morning confirming that you'd meet me for Football Sunday. By that point, I had already started to notice feelings for you—even though we were still working together.

I wrestled myself out of bed, showered in my Omni hotel room, and threw on some clothes, making sure to grab my jacket on the way out as the rain had already begun to pour down on downtown San Francisco. When I arrived, we walked into the bar and sat down, marveling at the sight in front of us: an entire establishment willingly dedicated to supporting the New York Giants.

We talked about life, football, and the great unknown. I could feel our connection and synergy immediately. As the rain battered the city, the bar's satellite dish struggled to deliver sound to the TVs. A particularly intoxicated man down the bar took this as his moment—launching into a loud, hilarious Joe Buck impression, calling the game from his barstool. We both couldn't stop laughing.

As the game wound down, neither of us wanted the day to end, so we headed to a new destination—a golf simulation spot near Rincon. By then, I couldn't ignore how different this "hangout" felt. I found myself completely drawn in by your beauty and your captivating presence. Our conversations flowed even more smoothly than the drinks being poured. This was no longer just a hangout; it was the opening act of something much bigger.

Despite knowing you were in a long-term relationship—and that we were coworkers—I felt compelled to be honest.
"Oh, what a shot!" you said after sending the ball cleanly into the net.
With a surge of nerves and a hint of bravado, I replied, "I know this may come across as forward, but I feel like I need to tell you how attracted I am to you."

Time slowed. You smiled. We finished the game.

Afterward, we grabbed food at a nearby Irish bar to round out the day. When we stepped outside, overcome by emotion in a way that felt entirely new to me, I leaned in for a kiss. You met me briefly—just a soft tap of the lips—before pulling away. We parted ways.

I rode home with my heart racing, my mind completely overwhelmed by how quickly and powerfully my feelings for you had grown.

Things only took off from there.

The emotions from that day have stayed with me in vivid detail. Over the past four years, they haven't faded—they've deepened into a level of love and commitment I've never experienced with anyone else. Every year, I think back to that day and how it quietly laid the foundation for everything we've built since.
